✨Applications Now Open: Boosting Leadership to Advance Life Course Immunization
The Sabin Vaccine Institute’s Boost Community, in partnership with Adaptive Change Advisors and People Power Health and with technical support from BCL, leaders of Immunization Academy, is excited to offer the new course, Boosting Leadership to Advance Life Course Immunization, beginning October 2023.
This interactive and integrated course will 1) build your technical knowledge and understanding of Life Course Immunization and 2) equip you with the adaptive leadership and community organizing skills needed to identify and respond to opportunities and challenges in developing and implementing a life course program.
Life Course Immunization (LCI) is an integral part of the Immunization Agenda 2030, with the goal of extending the benefits of immunization across an individual’s entire life. Because immunization programs have historically focused on vaccinating infants, implementing an LCI program requires a shift in approach and the development of new partnerships.
To support the shift in mindset necessary to develop an LCI approach, this course introduces concepts and skills in Adaptive Leadership and Community Activation, which have been developed at Harvard University and used for over 30 years to mobilize stakeholders and achieve meaningful change.
This unique course combines online self-paced micro-learning modules with live virtual weekly sessions. Live sessions will leverage technical experts to share implementation case studies to demonstrate LCI technical concepts and adaptive skills in practice. You will also have the opportunity for peer sharing and learning via breakout rooms and through online discussion.

Are there any prior courses that I need to take in order to be eligible for this course? Some prior knowledge of adaptive leadership or community organizing is helpful but not required. We strongly encourage you to take the online, self-paced introductory courses Discover Your Leadership Moment and Introduction to Community Activation in advance of the start of this course. When is it? The course will run for seven weeks from October 19 to November 30, 2023. Ninety-minute mandatory live sessions will take place once per week on Thursdays at 1:00 PM UTC/GMT (check local time).
How much time will I need? The time commitment is approximately 2-4 hours per week, which includes live sessions, completion of micro-learning modules, and light, mandatory homework assignments.
Is there a certification? A certificate of completion will be provided based on live session attendance and completion of all assignments.
How much does it cost? This course is FREE for Boost members.
