WHO Immunization Data Portal: A Useful Tool for Immunization Professionals
The World Health Organization created an immunization data portal, a new data tool that is useful for immunization professionals. There are various facets to this portal. First, you will find reported cases of vaccine preventable deaths (VPDs) globally, from diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella, and tetanus, among others, including global trends and total numbers of VPDs reported on up until 2021. This data is useful to identify gaps for evaluation and highlight areas in need of improvement.
Next, data on global vaccine coverage is showcased. The data shows the latest WHO/UNICEF Estimates of National Immunization Coverage (WUENIC) at the global level, based on data up until July 2022. WUENIC estimates include a Grade of Confidence assigned to each estimated data point. This includes data on coverage for various doses of different vaccines. Global vaccination coverage over time is also explored, showing trends in vaccination coverage against specific antigens over time. This data is also WHO/UNICEF Estimates of National Immunization Coverage (WUENIC), updated annually every July.
Country-specific immunization indicators are reported annually through the WHO/UNICEF Joint Reporting Form on Immunization (JRF). You can choose an indicator category, such as school-based immunization, immunization expenditure, and vaccine supply and logistics, to view its time series and trends. This country data is updated on an ongoing basis.
