Sabin Research & Development News: Sabin's Ebola Sudan Vaccine in Uganda

Published on December 12, 2022

The Sabin Vaccine Institute is happy to announce it is the first organization to provide the World Health Organization (WHO) a vaccine to fight the Ebola Sudan outbreak in Uganda. The outbreak, now abating, began in September and has killed at least 55 people to date. Sabin’s Ebola Sudan vaccine is a single-dose and has been found to be safe and produce fast and reliable immunity based on data from Phase 1 clinical trials and non-human primate studies. Over 1,000 doses of Sabin’s vaccine are now in Uganda, with 8,500 more to be made available to the WHO throughout January, and approximately 25,000 further doses expected to be supplied early next year.
