As Nepal prepares for its first nationwide HPV vaccination campaign, Boost Member Dr. Alisha Manandhar is making strides in cervical cancer prevention. With four women dying daily from the disease, her school-based educational program, developed during the COVID-19 Recovery for Routine Immunization Programs Fellowship, has boosted HPV vaccine understanding among 87% of students and 93.7% of teachers.

With the upcoming national HPV campaign in February targeting 1.6 million adolescent girls, Dr. Manandhar’s efforts to address misconceptions and raise awareness will be key to its success. Discover below how her innovative approach is shaping a healthier future for Nepal.

Boost in partnership with People Power Health is excited to offer a new dialogue series, Climate-Resilient Immunization: Empowering Immunization Professionals for Climate Action, beginning Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 1:00 PM GMT (find local time). Ninety-minute live sessions will occur weekly on Tuesdays for five weeks (ending on March 25).

As the climate crisis increasingly impacts public health, immunization professionals must be prepared to address these challenges head-on.

Through this interactive dialogue series, you will:

  1. Enhance your understanding of the critical link between the climate crisis, including its root causes, and immunization;
  2. Learn how the climate crisis is affecting your immunization peers and collaborate with them on potential solutions;
  3. Become equipped with the community engagement and climate-related monitoring skills needed to adapt immunization programs in the face of challenges posed by the climate crisis; and
  4. Utilize a specially developed template to monitor the health effects of climate change and advocate for policy changes.

A certificate of completion will be provided based on live session attendance (you must attend at least four sessions) and completion of all assignments.

This dialogue series and associated resource materials will be available in English and French.

Your Input Needed: Boost Community Annual Survey

We’re gearing up for the Boost Community’s Annual Survey, scheduled to roll out in early February, and your insights could make a big difference!

Last year’s survey generated valuable insights on community engagement, program impact, member priorities, and gender-related experiences. This year, we aim to build on those findings while refining the survey to capture even more actionable data—particularly on gender-based barriers and strategies for overcoming them.

We look forward to hearing your perspective, priorities, and encourage you to share your suggestions with the Boost team!

Engage with fellow Boost members and immunization colleagues on the Boost platform!

What are your top priorities for advancing immunization in 2025? Share your strategies, challenges, and the support you’d like to see from the Boost Community to help achieve your goals this year.
