As part of our efforts to raise awareness and share valuable insights on new and ongoing global immunization initiatives, we reached out to our Boost Community members who have firsthand experience with the malaria vaccine rollout to share their stories. We hope their perspectives will provide significant value to our Community and contribute to a deeper understanding of this critical development. In this second piece of the series, we are highlighting the work of Dr. Oben Pamela epse Besong in Cameroon.

In a critical step forward to combat a deadly disease that has no approved vaccines, Sabin launched a Phase 2 clinical trial for our Sudan ebolavirus vaccine. Adult volunteers received the single-dose vaccine at our partner site, the Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) in Uganda. The trial will soon expand to Kenya. Similar-stage human trials are also underway for a Sabin vaccine against Marburg virus disease in Uganda and Kenya.

🚨New Course Alert

The Boost Community, in partnership with People Power Health, is excited to offer a new course, Climate Ready Immunization - Empowering Immunization Professionals for Climate Action, beginning Tuesday, October 8, 2024. The course will run every Tuesday for five weeks and is designed to strengthen participants' skills in community engagement and environmental monitoring to help adapt immunization programs to climate challenges. Participants should expect a 2-3 hour weekly time commitment, which includes live sessions, optional assignments, and mandatory homework. A certificate of completion will be provided based on live session attendance and completion of all assignments. To learn more and register for this new course, please click the link below.

Since 1994, the Albert B. Sabin Gold Medal has been awarded to a distinguished individual or team of individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in the field of vaccinology or a complementary field. Our Rising Star award, launched in 2020, honors researchers under 40 whose work shows tremendous promise to advance immunization for the next generation. As a Boost member, we invite you to submit candidates for consideration for the 2025 Gold Medal and Rising Star Award.
