Global HPV Consortium 2024-2026 Action Plan
In October 2023, Sabin launched the Global HPV Consortium - a public-private movement to prevent Human Papillomavirus (HPV) infection and eliminate cervical cancer as a public health concern. Since then the Consortium has been growing exponentially with now more than 75 partners and counting. To mark Cervical Cancer Awareness Month, the Consortium launched its 2024 - 2026 Action Plan around four main strategic areas: Global Advocacy & Thought Leadership; Knowledge Management & Exchange; Convening Key Stakeholders; & County-Based Support.
The Consortium's Action Plan is designed to address the challenges and needs related to cervical cancer elimination across four key areas. In the domain of Advocacy and Thought Leadership, the plan aims to unite stakeholders globally, fostering collaboration and strategic communication to accelerate action in vaccination, screening, and treatment. The creation of an engaged community and the advocacy for pro-equity approaches are prioritized. Knowledge Management and Exchange involve the establishment of a hub for evidence and best practices, fostering dialogue among Consortium partners, and disseminating information on prevention services. Convening of Key Stakeholders focuses on global and country-level meetings to facilitate exchange and learning. Lastly, Country-Based Support involves mobilizing political will, aiding governments in developing comprehensive policies, building investment cases, securing financing, conducting research to overcome barriers, and supporting community-driven service delivery models. The overarching goal is to make cervical cancer history by addressing the multifaceted aspects of prevention, treatment, and collaboration on a global scale.
