
Applications Open: The 24th Advanced Course of Vaccinology (ADVAC 2024)
The 24th Advanced Course of Vaccinology (ADVAC) is a two-week training programme for decision-makers, including academia, industry, governmental and non-governmental agencies. The Course aims to facilitate critical decision-making in vaccinology by providing participants with a comprehensive overview of the various aspects of vaccinology (immunology, vaccine development, clinical trials, regulatory processes, vaccine-specific issues including new vaccines, vaccination strategies and policies, programme implementation, humanitarian emergencies, social, economic, political and ethical issues, financing, and communications…). The next course will be organized by Fondation Mérieux & Université de Genève, at "Les Pensières", Center for Global Health, Veyrier-du-Lac, France, close to Annecy and Geneva on May 6-17 2024.
ADVAC is a member of the International Collaboration on Advanced Vaccinology Training (ICAVT). The ICAVT network aims to link vaccinology courses worldwide, in order to facilitate contact, information exchange and collaboration.
Objective: The course aims to facilitate critical decision-making in vaccinology by providing participants with a comprehensive overview of the field, from immunology to vaccine development and clinical trials and the social, economic, political and ethical issues of vaccination.
Who should apply?: This advanced course is for scientists and decision-makers involved in vaccine development, in the elaboration of new vaccination strategies or in policy decisions related to the introduction of new vaccines in public health programmes, at national or international levels. It is relevant for both the public and private sectors.

Selectrion Criteria: Participants (maximum 75) will be selected by the ADVAC Scientific Committee, according to their: educational background, involvement in vaccinology, decision-making responsibilities in vaccinology, and expected impact of the Course at personal, institutional and national levels.
Funding: ADVAC is funded by the participants’ registration fees, education grants, a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (INV-010383) and in-kind contributions from the organizing and co-sponsoring agencies.
Fellowships: For selected ADVAC participants, fellowships are supported by grants funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) and the European Society for Paediatric Infectious Diseases (ESPID).
