COVID-19 Vaccine Integration Guidance Now Available
The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a new document that explains the vital considerations needed to move from COVID-19 mass vaccination campaigns to integrating COVID-19 vaccination into other immunization programs and health services. The goal of this publication is to delve into different areas where integration of health services and vaccination might be possible. This document will be continuously updated given the changing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic. This document is not intended to be a set of rules, but rather a series of considerations for countries to take into account and apply as needed based on their specific contexts.
This guidance includes an Annex with a set of practical tools, including a checklist to assess the steps needed to be taken in strategy development. Official guidance in now available online in English. Translated versions in French, Spanish, and Portuguese will be available soon. Additionally, the WHO has a vaccine delivery toolkit which offers a wealth of practical guidance, training, and information to support immunization programs as well as stakeholders, health workers, Civil Society Organizations, and other partners.
