Dr. Adefunke Marufat Adesina, a dedicated Medical Practitioner, Public Health Physician, Field Epidemiologist, and WHO-trained infodemic manager, has been advocating for maternal and child health and ensuring vaccine accessibility for over fifteen years. Her journey began in Nigeria, where she witnessed the devastating impact of vaccine-preventable diseases, sparking her determination to make a difference. Transitioning from obstetrics and gynecology to focus on immunization, she has played multiple roles, including medical practitioner, health specialist, technical advisor, and advocate. Her initiatives include the Immunization Defaulter Tracking System in Lagos State, Nigeria, research on health service utilization, and advising on Lot Quality Assurance Surveys (LQAs). As a Boost Community Champion, she has empowered fellow professionals and strengthened immunization programs globally. Now in England, she continues her mission as a mentor and outreach coordinator, aiming to contribute to positive health outcomes globally through collaboration and passion.

The introduction of malaria vaccines represents a significant milestone in the fight against one of the world's most devastating diseases. The introduction of the RTS,S/AS01 (RTS,S) malaria vaccine, the first-ever vaccine shown to provide partial protection against malaria in young children, marks a momentous step forward. With the endorsement of the World Health Organization (WHO) and pilot programs in countries like Ghana, Kenya, and Malawi, the vaccine's rollout aims to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with malaria, especially among the most vulnerable populations.

As of February 202420 more countries are approved for rollout, with Ghana and Burkina Faso already distributing the vaccine. Ongoing monitoring and sharing lessons learned will improve malaria control and strengthen health systems.

Recent floods globally have wreaked havoc, displacing communities, damaging healthcare infrastructure, and disrupting essential services. The Boost team aims to connect with immunization professionals in flood-affected countries to grasp the impact on immunization services, highlighting the urgent need for understanding and addressing challenges faced by these professionals. Sharing success stories and experiences can drive policy changes at international, national, and regional levels to enhance preparedness for future disasters caused by climate change.
