
Unicef: Democratic Republic of the Congo Starts Mpox Vaccination in High-Priority Provinces

The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has started vaccinating vulnerable groups against mpox in high-priority provinces. Supported by UNICEF, WHO, Gavi, and Africa CDC, 265,000 doses of the MVA-BN vaccine have been delivered. The vaccination campaign focuses on protecting health workers, contacts of mpox cases, and immunocompromised individuals. Mpox has heavily affected children, with over 30,000 suspected cases and 900 deaths this year.
